"I create art for melancholics and dreamers".

A day in the studio.

My name is Hege Karoliussen, and I was born and raised on a windswept island in Northern Norway, but now live and work in the buzzing city of
Copenhagen, Denmark.

In my work I find myself drawn to the beauty of bygone eras and the way they evoke a sense of nostalgia and contemplation. With my use of pastels and colour pencils I embody this sentiment, capturing the essence of a time long gone.

Through my use of colour, texture, and composition, I aim to transport viewers to a world of melancholy and dreams, where they can explore their own emotions and memories. My art is not meant to be flashy or showy, but rather a quiet reflection on the passage of time and the way it shapes our perceptions of the world.

For those who are drawn to the melancholic and the contemplative, my art offers a window into a world of introspection and pondering, and encourages the viewer to slow down, take a breath, and reconnect with their own inner selves.
